When visitors come to Cape Bible Chapel on Kage Road Sunday for worship, they'll see what a typical service is like in a 1,600-seat worship center.

The church is dedicating its new 55,000 square-foot worship center Sunday. Special events are planned throughout the day, beginning with an open communion from 8:30-9 a.m. and a ministry fair from 9-10 a.m. Brunch will be served during the ministry fair also.

When worship service begins at 10 a.m., church members and visitors won't hear a guest speaker. But that's a purposeful decision of the church, said Dan Green, minister. "We felt that if they came, they'd be exposed to the same speaker next week. The focus is on the building."

The ministry fair will highlight the programs at the church, particularly small group Bible studies and ministries.

An open house and guided tours of the center are planned from noon to 3 p.m., and include a reception.

The church has been in the midst of the construction project for about two years, with nearly five years in the planning stages prior to that. The church offers multiple worship times each week, but with the new space can easily come together for a single service, Green said. "But with the way we are growing, that may not last forever."

Because the church believes its mission is "what Jesus presented as the Great Commission," the construction and progress of the church won't ever be complete, Green said. "It's a never-ending task to reach the world for Christ."
