The Cape Girardeau Central High School marching band took third place in its division Saturday at the Greater St. Louis Marching Band Festival.

The band placed behind Lafayette and Oakville, two large St. Louis schools, said Debbie Lusk, a band parent and teacher at Central High School.

The St. Louis competition is the one the band practices for from the beginning of the year, Lusk said. It is also the final competition of the year.

At other competitions this year, the band took two first-place awards and a second place.
