Organizers said the Cape Air Show will take place today at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport, no matter what type of weather the forecast holds.
Storms are expected, but rain or shine, the gates will open at 2:30 p.m. Opening ceremonies will take place at 5:30 p.m., and the Canadian stunt pilots the Snowbirds will begin the show at 6 p.m.
The Air Show will feature the Canadian Skyhawks and the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachute teams, as well as several unique aircraft including an F-22 Raptor, a P-51 and the RedLine Airshows aerobatic team.
There also will be demonstrations by terrestrial jet-powered vehicles such as the Top Gun truck.
General admission is free, with several locations around the airport providing parking and shuttle services. VIP passes are available at the gate for $35; they include food, drinks and reserved parking.
