Cape Air service to resume Tuesday

St. Louis Lambert International Airport officials hope to resume 70 percent of flight operations Sunday, according to an Associated Press report.

The main terminal, including Concourse C was ravaged by a tornado Friday.

Cape Air flights, from St. Louis to Cape Girardeau will resume Tuesday at 6 a.m., according to Bruce Loy, airport manager at Cape Girardeau Regional Airport. Flights will leave from Concourse D, Loy said.

"Up until then pretty much all flights have been canceled out of Cape Girardeau," Loy said."We feel good that we will be able to get things up and going as quickly as Tuesday, all things considered."

The tornado smashed in half of the main terminal's windows, sending glass and rain in the building. The storm also ripped the roof off of Concourse C, among other damages.

Concourse C is used by Cape Air, American Airlines and Frontier Airlines. Because of the extensive damage, the concourse will take longer to repair.

Recently, Cape Air was awarded a four-year contract to continue service at the Cape Girardeau Regional Airport.
