The Quincy Herald-Whig newspaper reported Thursday that Cape Air is the preferred choice for that city. Cape Air had previously picked up the endorsement of Marion-Herrin, Ill. Cape Girardeau is grouped with six cities in the Essential Air Service contract process that ends Wednesday.

Cape Air bid on Decatur, Ill., as well, but no decision has been reached in that city. The other cities grouped with Cape Girardeau are Burlington, Iowa, and Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. Cape Air would fly passengers to St. Louis.
