A forum for candidates in contested Perry County offices will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Perry Park Center theater. The event is sponsored by the Perry County Republican Party, the Perry County Democratic Party and the Republic-Monitor newspaper, said Fran Ray, vice chairwoman for the Perry County Republican Central Committee.

All contested primary races on Tuesday's ballot involve Republicans. Terry Brewer and John Edwards, both of Perryville, are running for District 1 commissioner; Edwin W. Stueve Jr. and James L. (Jim) Sutterer are candidates for District 2 commissioner; Perryville police Sgt. Joe Martin is challenging Sheriff Gary Schaaf; and Cheryl Stueve, Robyn G. Richardet and Charles H. Triller seek the assessor nomination.
