__Name:__ Lara (Thieret) Green
__Age:__ 41
__Place of birth:__ Perryville, MO
__Spouse, children's names:__
I've been married to Jeff Green for almost 18 years. We have three children, Anna (13), Carly (12), and Adam (9).
__Occupation:__ Part-time Legal Assistant/Stay-At-Home Mom
__Employer:__ Layton & Southard Law Firm in Perryville
__Businesses owned, all or part:__ N/A
__Previous offices held or sought:__
This is the first time I've run for office, but have been involved in many boards and committee's over the years for my children's schools, etc.
__What makes you the most qualified candidate for this position?:__
I am an alumni from Perryvile High School, and am an advocate for our district and our children's school. I've been very involved in the parent committee and currently serve on two committees for the district. I want what is best for our students, district and community.
__What do you see as the opportunities and challenges in the district?:__
Overcrowding is definitely an issue. Because of our growing community, we are outgrowing the space we have. Our community needs to be educated on the condition of our existing buildings, the need for updates, safe structures, and keeping students and teachers from overcrowded classrooms. Also, improving the morale and unity in our district. And, I would love to see increased parent involvement and community support for our district.
__How will you communicate your work to your constituents?:__
I will respectfully address any issue with the board members. Although each has their own individual vote, they are still a team making very important decisions, and should respect each other for their differences. And, at times, they must agree to disagree. If elected, I look forward to working with fellow board members to make important decisions for our students and community.
__What are the factors on which you will base your decisions as a school board member?:__
The students are my #1 priority. Making sure that they are taken care of is the most important task I will strive for as a school board member.
