Current Cape Girardeau School Board 2010-current

WHAT'S THE BIGGEST NEED YOU HOPE TO ADDRESS IF ELECTED?

To continue to build on the momentum we have going. The district has made tremendous strides in improvement in all areas. Graduation rate, although not there yet, has had tremendous improvements and fully expect that to continue. The district has also implemented PLC's (Professional LEarning Communities) which foster best practices between teachers in like grades.

Another exciting opportunity on the horizon that I feel is imperative is the 1:1 initiative we have been evaluating. This would incorporate technology of netbooks/tablets into our students hands and deliver learning curriculum in a format that the students of today repsond positively to as well as prepare them for the work force or secondary education.

We have a very good board that works diligently in the best interests of the students, parents and citizens in general. I hope to be re-elected to be able to continue to serve the community in this capacity.

WHY ARE YOU THE BEST CANDIDATE?

I think that since I have been on the board for the past three years I have a very good understanding of the dynamics of our board, our district and our staff. It takes a considerable amount of time to get "up to speed" when coming on as a new member. I think that continuity is essential when you have a board that is working very well together and making great progress.

Being a graduate of the Cape Central as well as having two young students in the district, I definately have a vested interest in seeing our district improve where needed and also continue to be a leader in the region where we exceed. We have a tremendous staff that do not get enough praise and recognition.

I would greatly appreciate your vote on April 2nd and allow me the continued opportunity to serve the constituents of the district.
