WHAT'S THE BIGGEST NEED YOU HOPE TO ADDRESS IF ELECTED?
We currently have a school board that does not feel that they should be bothered with the concerns of the public. I have a big issue with this. Being a publicly elected body a school board has a duty to allow the public to address them in open meetings without requiring them to jump through an endless number of hoops just to speak to them. The current board has also said on many occasions that they do not have the time to research every item that they vote on. I must ask why not? The duty of a board member is to make well informed and intelligent decisions so research is a requirement. I will research items before giving my approval and I will be open and accessible to the public, further more I will make sure the public has the opportunity to speak freely at open board meetings.
WHY ARE YOU THE BEST CANDIDATE?
Unlike most of the current board I do have children attending Jackson R-2 Schools so every decision that I make actually would have an effect on me personally. I believe that I have an open mind which will allow me to see both sides of any issue allowing me to make an intelligent decision that is in the best interest of everyone involved in the district. The Jackson R-2 district currently has many issues that are in need of attention and I have proven over the last 3 years that I will not simply take what I am told at face value, I will do my homework and I will not be intimidated into making a decision or voting on something that is not in the best interest of the district as a whole. If someone has a problem they can come to me and receive my full attention.
