BUSINESSES OWNED, ALL OR PART: None
PUBLIC OFFICE HELD OR SOUGHT; GIVE DATES: Board member on the Gordonville Fire Protection Board
WHAT IS THE BIGGEST NEED YOU HOPE TO ADDRESS IF ELECTED:
The most valuable asset a Volunteer Fire District has is its volunteer fire people. Your building, equipment and so on are useless without these people. Most of these people have a family and when they are in training or on a call, they give up time with their family. At a board meeting that I recently attended, it was stated by the assistant fire chief at that time, that usually out of five recruits, you may have one that will stay the course. We live in a fast moving society and technology advances faster now than even before and with it come new concerns and advances in fire protection, which results in more training of fire personnel. I believe no one on the fire board should receive any money from fire district, either directly or indirectly.
WHY ARE YOU THE BEST CANDIDATE FOR THIS POSITION:
I have lived in this fire district for the past thirty five (35) years and know some of the problems involved in living in a rural area. There are a little over seven thousand (7,000) people that live in this fire district and their tax dollars keep this district going. I have always lived within my budget and the district should be no different. I would also like to see the marque out in front of Station 1 on Highway Z and the one at Dutchtown, close to Highway 25, with information of the next Fire Board Meeting. These signs are owned by the Fire District and the public would not have to get out of their vehicle to get this information if it was placed on these signs. I realize there would be a lot to learn, but I am willing to do this to the best of my ability. Thank-you.
