WHAT'S THE BIGGEST NEED YOU HOPE TO ADDRESS IF ELECTED?

I hope to employ my abilities to help the Board and Administration address the many challenges currently facing our public schools. Among the more significant of these challenges is the need to balance budget constraints with pressing needs in areas such as more competitive beginning pay for teachers in our district, investment in new technologies for greater computer literacy and enhanced learning environments, and continuing upgrades to our overall curriculum to prepare students at all levels in our system for success beyond high school. Expansion of the Professional Learning Community initiative would be of great help in this regard. Significant improvements to our graduation rate would also be my goal if elected to the School Board.

I consider myself a calm and rational decision maker with broad vision and an analytical mind, a hard worker, and a perfectionist, all of which would serve me well as a School Board member.

WHY ARE YOU THE BEST CANDIDATE?

As a parent of three graduates of Cape Central High School, I have been deeply involved with Cape public schools for over 21 years. During this time I have worked with parents and faculty members in various capacities, including two 3-year terms on the Cape Central All-School Booster Club Board, serving as President during each term. My passion for Cape Public Schools fuels my interest in serving on the School Board.

Professionally and personally, I have a long record of leadership roles both in and outside of the workplace. Having recently retired as CFO of Cape Electrical Supply, I remain an owner and active board member. I presently serve as Vice President of the Board of the Industrial Development Authority of Cape Girardeau County. For over 15 years I served as coach, officer or board member with several youth organizations including CAYSA, Noon Optimist Basketball, and Cape Youth Baseball.
