Candidates for 1st District Cape Girardeau County Commissioner and for the 158th District Missouri House of Representatives will appear at a candidate forum tonight at the Cape Girardeau County University of Missouri Extension offices, 684 W. Jackson Trail.
The forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Southeast Missouri and the University of Missouri Extension of Cape Girardeau County and is open to the public.
The evening will begin at 6 p.m. with a meet-and-greet for candidates and the public. The commission candidates — 10 candidates are seeking the Republican nomination and three are vying for the Democratic ballot slot in the Aug. 5 primary — will begin their forum at 6:45 p.m. The candidates for the 158th District nomination in the Republican primary will hold their forum beginning at 9 p.m. There are no Democratic candidates.
