The American Cancer Society has begun its annual Daffodil Days festival. Orders for the flowers will be accepted through Feb. 12.

Volunteers will be bringing this first spring flower to Cape Girardeau residents to raise money for cancer research, education and patient service programs.

According to Karen Green, Daffodil Days chairman, thousands of daffodils will be shipped to Cape Girardeau for the festival.

She said $250 will buy 500 blooms; $125 will buy 250 blooms and $35 will buy two bouquets.

Businesses and employees are encouraged to make advance orders.

"Most of the money we raise comes from corporations and businesses," Green said. "Daffodils make nice gifts and our volunteers deliver the flowers locally."
