David Golden, an educational consultant and Canada's Newspapers In Education coordinator, will share his ideas this week with area elementary school children and students at Southeast Missouri State University.

Golden will speak at Jackson South Elementary School today, Jackson North Elementary School on Wednesday and Nell Holcomb School on Thursday.

He will speak in classes at Southeast on Friday. Golden will be one of the presenters of a graduate class, "Idea Shop: Newspaper Across the Curriculum" on Friday and Saturday. That class is designed for both graduate students and public school teachers.

Golden's visit is underwritten by a Goals 2000: Fine Arts grant.

Golden is president of David Golden and Associates, where he serves as a consultant and writer.

He writes new federal employee work descriptions for the Treasury Board's new classification standard. He is under contract with the Toronto Star to revise and write three Newspaper in Education programs.

Prior to starting his consulting business, Golden directed educational services for the Canadian Daily Newspaper Association and served as NIE coordinator for the Toronto Star.

During the past two years, Golden has coordinated a writing team responsible for the development of "News is Not Just Black and White," a cultural-diversity awareness program for the federal Ministry of Canadian Heritage.

He is a member of the International Reading Association and the Canadian Geographic Society.
