Campbell man dies after fatal accident Friday at Malden Speedway

MALDEN, Mo. -- A Campbell, Mo., man lost his life in a fatal accident Friday evening at the Malden Speedway.

According to the Dunklin County Sheriff's Department, the accident occurred when a race car driven by Daniel Waters, of Jonesboro, Ark., would not start. A four-wheel ATV driven by Earl Junior Grubbs, of Campbell, was pushing the car back onto the racetrack when the vehicles interlocked. Grubbs was unable to separate from the race car as the car continued to accelerate. The car entered the northeast curve of the racetrack with the ATV still interlocked. According to the sheriff's department report, Grubbs was thrown from the ATV when it overturned, fatally injuring him.
