CAMP ENTERPRISE TEACHES STUDENTS ABOUT BUSINESS
Forty students from area high schools had a chance to learn about the real world of business from local business leaders at the first Rotary Club Camp Enterprise. Forty students from area high schools had a chance to learn about the real world of business from local business leaders at the first Rotary Club Camp Enterprise.
Camp Enterprise was held Sept. 25-26 at the Boy Scouts Camp Lewallen.
Jeff Krantz, general chairman of the event, said, "Our first year was successful based on student evaluations. We are looking to do the second Camp Enterprise about the same time next year.
Business and community leaders spoke with students about the real issues of business and the free enterprise system, Krantz said.
The speakers included representatives of a variety of different fields.
Students also had a chance to use computer business simulations. They were divided into groups functioning like small businesses competing against each other. "They made decisions on buying, selling, advertising, inventory," Krantz said.
Attending from St. Vincent de Paul High School in Perryville were Keith Robinson and Christy Steinbecker.
