CAIRO, Ill. -- The Cairo Rotary Club's Governor's Reception will be held at Magnolia Manor here Sunday.
Rotary members from a wide area of Southern Illinois Anna, Carbondale, Mt. Vernon, Metropolis will be on hand for the 16th annual event.
Elizabeth L. Matthews, wife of past district governor Sidney Matthews, of Carbondale, will be guest speaker for the event which starts at 6:30 p.m.
Matthews, a noted scholar on the Civil War and Civil War heroes, will discuss Gen. Ulysses S. Grant's stay at the Manor following his renowned tour around the world following his presidency.
