CAIRO, Ill. -- Servicemaster Industries Inc., a firm that moved to Southern Illinois about 25 years ago and employs about 30 persons, has been named the "Business of the Year" by the Cairo Chamber of Commerce.
The honor came during the annual chamber banquet held Saturday night at the Cairo High School cafeteria.
A second award was also presented during the meeting, and new chamber officers were installed. Herman Hirsch, a retired businessman received the Community Service Award.
Mary Ann Simpson was installed as new president of the chamber. Other officers are Bill Harrell, first vice president; Kipp Kreitzer, second vice president; Bo Helt, executive secretary; and Pam Abercrombie, treasurer.
