ULLIN, Ill. -- John turner, director of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, and Congressman Glenn Poshard will be among speakers for the May 18 dedication of Cypress Creek National Wildlife Refuge and Cache River State Natural Area, to be held at Shawnee Community College near here.

The two projects are additions to the Cache River Wetlands Projects in Southern Illinois.

The dedication is open to the public.

Poshard will also host a morning river tour for special guests to emphasize the important and beauty of the region.

The Cache River project is a joint effort by the Nature Conservancy, The U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, Ducks Unlimited and the Illinois Department of Conservation.

THe project, which actually started two decades ago, will involve about 60,000 acres of land.
