Agencies involved in the Glen Allen flood buyout met Feb. 13 with the Bollinger County Commission to examine 31 applications submitted by Glen Allen residents affected by the August flood.
Present were representatives from Southeast Missouri Regional Planning Commission, appraisal service Kim Nix & Associates, Smith & Co. engineers, Bollinger County Abstract, and the U.S. Department of Agriculture Natural Resources Conservation Service. They met with the Bollinger County Commission in closed session to agree on each application.
The property owners in the flood zone have 30 days from receipt of the offer to accept or reject it.
If a property owner is awarded the value of the land, and plans to move to a different location, he will be offered up to $31,000 less anything he may have received from insurance to make up the difference.
The value of the village of Glen Allen's sewer system has not yet been determined.
As appraisals continue to come in, they will be examined and offers will be made. A total of 51 were submitted. All appraisals should be decided in 30 days of receipt.
Any property owner in the flood zone who has questions may call the regional planning commission, Smith & Co., or the Bollinger County Commission.
