Cape Girardeau Area Magnet executive director Mitch Robinson appeared in front of Cape Girardeau County commissioners at Thursday's meeting to request tentative approval for a sales tax exemption on the Nordenia expansion project. Approval would allow tax exemption on materials to be used in the construction process of the new building. The tax exemption is part of the original Chapter 100 proposal, which is set to appear before the commission for final approval in September. Robinson said the building project is moving ahead more quickly than expected and tax exemption would allow for faster and easier completion. Commissioners granted tentative approval of the exemption pending more information.
