Burger Tyme, a drive-through fast-food restaurant, is opening its windows earlier now.
"We'll be offering assorted doughnuts and pastries starting at 6 a.m. each morning," said Howard Kinder, owner of Burger Tyme Restaurant, 1865 Broadway.
"This will be a separate business," said Kinder, who opened the restaurant about a year ago. "We'll devote about half of our space to the pastry operation and the other half to the restaurant."
Kinder said burgers and sandwiches will not be available until 10 a.m. The doughnut drive-through will be open from 6 a.m. to midnight except on Fridays and Saturdays, when the restaurant is open until 3 a.m.
Kinder said the new business also will offer wholesale service and will deliver to businesses on a wholesale basis.
The new operation will result in two new employees. "We'll be employing 14 people, full and part time," he said.
During the summer, Kinder offers a sno-cone operation in an eight-by-10-foot structure on Caruthers Street just behind Burger Tyme.
