A bull rider was seriously injured Sunday afternoon while competing in the Longhorn World Championship Rodeo at the Show Me Center.
Brett Zuver, a cowboy from Louisville, Ky., was listed in serious condition at Southeast Missouri Hospital Sunday night. He remained in the emergency room more than four hours after the injury occurred.
Zuver, the first rider of the last event of the day, fell off very near the bull and was stepped on. He did not get up.
Spectators in the silenced arena watched medical personnel stabilize the rider's condition for about five minutes before removing him on a stretcher.
A rodeo official said Zuver apparently suffered a concussion and would undergo a CAT scan.
