GREENSBORO, N.C. A former Cape Girardeau man was featured recently in the April, 1991 issue of `Private Pilot,' for his performance in a Venture aircraft constructed from a kit.
Don Godwin, now of Greensboro, N.C., son of the late John Godwin, finished second in his Venture craft during last year's Sun 190 Race at Lakeland, with a speed of 286.92 mph. Another pilot, Rich Gritter, placed second in the race, in a factory-built Venture.
The kit craft has a redesigned nose bowl with 25 percent smaller inlets, a new tuned header-type exhaust system that adds 25 horsepower to the Continental 1O-550s 300 hp, new fuel caps, new pivot location along with other improvements.
