The Dunklin County Commission has named G.W. "Bud" Brooks to fill a position on the Salem Township Board.
Brooks will fill the vacancy created by the recent death of Raymond Winkle. Winkle was elected to the township board in April.
Brooks will complete the remainder of Winkle's two-year term which is to expire in April 1997.
Now serving as chief dispatcher with the Dunklin County Sheriff's Department, Brooks is not unfamiliar with public office. He has served several terms as an alderman in Senath and has served as the town's mayor. He has also been a member of the city's police department.
Brooks is a native of the Beech Corner community west of Senath.
He and his wife, Myrtle, have made their home in Senath for many years. They are the parents of two grown sons, Mike and Steve. They also reared a grandson, Sean.
