County clerk to talk tonight at League meet

Cape Girardeau County Clerk Rodney Miller will speak at the League of Women Voters of Southeast Missouri meeting at 7 tonight in the Hirsch Room of the Cape Girardeau Public Library.

Miller's topic will be "Election Laws that Affect You." The meeting is open to the public.

The National League of Women Voters was founded in St. Louis in 1919 and has branches in 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.

The local group meets the second Tuesday of the month at the library. Eileen Steinberg and Nelda Steffen are co-presidents of the local group.

Former Secretary of State Rebecca M. Cook will speak at the Oct. 9 meeting.

Miniature golf tourney tonight at Arena Park

A miniature golf tournament will be held at Arena Park Golf, 2901 Hawthorne Drive, starting at 5:30 tonight.

The tournament, sponsored by the Community Counseling Center Foundation, will get under way at 5:30 with the 9-under division, followed at 6 by the 10-12 division, at 6:30 by the 13-15 division, at 7 by the 16-18 division and at 7:30 by the 19-older division.

Entry fee is $10. Registrations are available by calling John Harding or Don Pugh at Arena Park Golf, or by calling the Community Counseling Center, 334-1100.

The Community Counseling Center is a not-for-profit provider of mental health care serving, Cape Girar-deau, Bollinger, Madison, Ste. Genevieve and Perry counties.

SEMO prof to speak at IAAP chapter meet

The Girardot Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals will meet at 6:30 p.m. today at the Drury Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

Dr. Michael Weatherson from the speech and communication department at Southeast Missouri State University will discuss non-verbal communication in the work place.
