"The Art of Flowers," a one-person exhibition of about 20 recent watercolor works by Judi Brey, will be presented at the University Museum at Southeast Missouri State University June 23 through July 25.
The public is invited to meet Brey at an opening reception on June 23 from 2-4 p.m. at the museum.
Visitors are also welcome Monday through Friday from 8-4 p.m. and on Sundays from 1-5 p.m. Brey's original watercolor paintings in the exhibition are for sale and available through the museum gallery.
A self-taught watercolor artist, Brey studied oil painting and figure drawing at the Kansas City Art Institute. She lived in Kansas City for four years and moved back to her hometown of Cape Girardeau in 1987.
While in Kansas City, she received several awards for her painting. She was named the Metcalf Art Show Award of Excellence and Artist of the Month by the Greater Kansas City Association, of which she is still a member.
She won a Patrons Purchase Award for Art in the Woods in Overland Park, Kan., and she has exhibited in many juried art shows in the Kansas City area.
Brey has been painting and drawing since childhood, but has painted professionally for the past eight years. She paints portraits, still lifes and florals.
