Breadeaux Pisa, 1255 Old Cape Roard in Jackson, offers a number of lunch specials. The restaurant offers salads, sandwiches and their traditional and specialty pizzas with a unizue, French-style crust.

Jackson diners can now add a new name to the list of eateries in their town, Breadeaux Pisa.

Located at 1255 Old Cape Rd. in the Thompson Shopping Center, the restaurant's menu is as unique as its name.

Of course the name "Breadeaux" is a French take on the English words "bread dough," and with good reason.

The company got its start in 1985 in Corning, Iowa at a convenience store where pizza was being prepared in the back using a recipe for French bread to make the pizza crust.

When the convenience store chain turned down the pizza sales, the Breadeaux Pisa chain was born.

According to local manager Rich Siebert, the company's continued use of the bread dough recipe to make its crust is what gives the restaurant's pizza its "French style" touted in company advertisements. The special crust is made from scratch every morning and offers a very crispy texture, like the crispy crust of real French bread.

In addition to Super Special and traditional pizza styles, Breadeaux Pisa offers sandwiches and a salad bar as well as specialty pizzas like the Hawaiian, taco and Bavarian.

In addition, the restaurant offers a specialty meat pie known as the A'mour-za

During the week, Breadeaux Pisa offers a lunch buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. for $4.75 including tax and a drink. A second lunch special is the Quick Lunch, which gives customers two slices of pizza and a 16 oz. drink for $2.50.

All Breadeaux pizzas are made with 100 percent dairy cheese and all-meat products, using no fillers.

Breadeaux Pisa is open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 11 a.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays.

The Breadeaux Pisa chain is based in St. Joseph and operates 76 restaurants primarily in Missouri and Iowa. Other restaurants are located in Arkansas, Kansas, Minnesota, Michigan and Illinois with one restaurant located in British Columbia, Canada.

According to Charles Zimmerman, corporate president of Breadeaux Pisa, the chain primarily locates its restaurants in smaller towns because such towns generally offer lower operating costs and a strong work ethic and sense of loyalty among the work force. The lack of competition is also a contributor to the company policy.

Siebert manages the Jackson location, as well as a second Breadeaux Pisa restaurant in Chaffee.
