BRANSON, Mo. -- Officials in Branson have eased some provisions of a proposal to ban smoking of cigarettes and electronic cigarettes in most public places.
KOLR-TV reported the board of aldermen has rewritten the proposal to allow smoking in up to 20 percent of hotel and motel rooms.
The board also removed proposed regulations for outdoor smoking in areas such as patios, RV campgrounds and business entrances. The proposed maximum fine for violations has been reduced to $25 from $500.
More than 200 people attended a public forum on the issue in mid-August, and the board has been hearing from residents and business owners since then.
The aldermen may vote on the proposed ordinance on Oct. 14.
