Readers who may have outgrown a remote controlled flying Superman may enjoy giving it to 5-year-old Bobby, a boy who has recently found himself without a father.
His dad's leaving has left his mom, Connie, in a precarious position.
"I would like to get Christmas presents for him myself, but we're just making ends meet now," Connie said.
Connie moved here less than a year ago from St. Louis, where she worked at Lighthouse for the Blind. She receives a Social Security check for her visual impairment plus a small welfare check, but paying rent and other bills is still a struggle. Connie would like to work, but opportunities because of her impairment are limited, plus transportation is an issue.
Bobby has been asking for a train set, games for his Nintendo 64, action figures, cars and trucks.
He already has a Star Wars and racing game for his Nintendo. If any readers choose to provide a Nintendo game, his mother would like something simple without violence.
Connie and Bobby have limited family in the area.
Interested givers will be happy to know they can be the catalyst that keeps a little boy who's feeling the loss of one parent to still enjoy the hope this season brings.
