Boy Scouting in Southeast Missouri will be featured in a special exhibit at the Southeast Missouri State University Museum in February of 1993.
"February is Boy Scout Month," said Tony Smee, a district executive for the Southeast Missouri Council of Boy Scouts of America, "We're looking for Boy Scout memorabilia for the special exhibit.
"The museum has allotted space for the special display during the month of February," added Smee. "Items are needed from the 1920s to the present."
"Boy Scouting's History in Southeast Missouri, A Reflection of Tradition and Change" will be the title of the month-long exhibit.
"We'll be looking for items concerning Camp Lewallen, Jamboree Contingent items, newspaper articles, uniforms, books, patches, paper items and various Scouting equipment," said Smee. "We're looking for loans or gifts. The items will be returned to owners following the exhibit."
"We want to showcase the entire Southeast Missouri Council, which consists of 14 counties," said Smee.
The special exhibit will open the week of February 7-14, which is Boy Scout Week.
"A reception will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on Feb. 7," said Smee.
"This is the first time we have attempted to put together such a display," added Smee. "We're hoping for a good response."
