The Boy Scouts of America hopes to serve young people by helping to instill values and prepare them to make ethical choices in their lifetimes and achieve their full potential.
The Southeast Missouri Council, which includes 14 counties, serves 7,411 youths and 1,200 adults.
Each year Boy Scouts are involved in thousands of hours of community service they are required to provide. In 1990, 58 boys performed Eagle service projects.
Boys Scouts also participate in Scouting for Food, the collection of food for the needy.
For the coming year, the Boy Scout council plans Scouting for the Handicapped, an outdoor experience at Camp Lewallen. An in-school scouting project for boys and girls is also planned.
The scout executive is Mark Wappel. For more information call 335-3346.
