The Boy Scouts of America hopes to serve young people by helping to instill values and prepare them to make ethical choices and achieve their full potential.
The Southeast Missouri Council, which includes 14 counties, serves over 9,000 youths and 1,200 adults.
Each year Boy Scouts are involved in thousands of hours of community service they are required to provide. In 1991 over 50 boys performed Eagle service projects.
Boys Scouts also participate in Scouting for Food, a collection of food for the needy.
For the coming year the Boy Scout council plans Scouting for the Disabled, an outdoor experience at Camp Lewallen. An in-school scouting project, "Learning for Life," for boys and girls is also planned.
The scout executive is Mark Wappel. For more information call 335-3346.
