Bootheel teen injured after falling from bed of pickup truck

HAYTI, Mo. -- A Caruthersville teen sustained moderate injuries after falling from the bed of a pickup truck, the Standard Democrat newspaper reported.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident occurred around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on County Road 338, four miles west of Hayti. Matthew S. Pendergrass, 18, was riding in the bed of an eastbound truck driven by Jackie D. Coram, 23, of Hayti, and fell from the truck.

Pendergrass sustained moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to Pemiscot County Memorial Hospital in Hayti.
