WARDELL, Mo. -- A 51-year-old Wardell man is in custody after officers were called to a domestic dispute that turned violent.
Donald Long is facing two felony charges of second-degree assault on a police officer.
Pemiscot County deputies say officers were called just after 9 a.m. Friday to Wardell for a domestic dispute between Long and a woman. It was reported that the man was assaulting the woman.
According to Lt. Ryan Holder, Long "became belligerent, irate and out of control" when officers arrived. Holder said police tried twice to gain control of Long and used their Tasers; however, the man grabbed a metal framed chair and began swinging it at the deputy. He also picked up a metal pipe and swung at the deputy, nearly striking him in the face.
The deputy pulled his weapon and fired a shot at the subject. Long fled. Deputies and troopers with the Missouri State Highway Patrol went to his home on Route B, where he was found in a nearby shed and arrested.
Long is being held at the Pemiscot County Jail.
