Special guest for this week's Jackson Municipal Band concert will be Bill Bonney. The performance is scheduled Thursday at 8 p.m. in the city park.
Bonnie is a 1982 graduate of Jackson High School, where he was active in all aspects of music. Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. While serving, he began singing seriously with a vocal group that performed for both naval and civilian functions across the nation.
Since his release from the Navy, he has continued his interest in music by performing at weddings, civic organizations, church solos as well as a member of his church choir.
He is presently working as a computer technician, but still remains active in musical pursuits. Since his return to Jackson, his vocal coaches and accompanists have been Dale and Mary Rouh of Jackson.
This marks Bonney's first performance with the Jackson Municipal Band.
The instrumental portion of the concert will include: "God of Our Father," selections from "Les Miserables," a new suite entitled "Civil War," the marches "King Cotton" and "Diamond Jim" plus many more favorites.
The public is invited to attend the free concert, and bring a lawn chair. Entrance to the city park is off Route D, across from McCombs Funeral Home.
