U.S. Sen. Kit Bond announced $1.6 million in federal funding Thursday for three projects in Cape Girardeau. The announcements were included in news releases claiming credit for $14.5 million for Missouri projects. From $6 million Bond secured for Southeast Missouri transportation projects, $1.3 million will go for upgrades and expansion of Route AB in Cape Girardeau and Scott counties. The two Route AB projects include $735,000 for improvements immediately adjacent to the Southeast Missouri Regional Port Authority that would provide increased traffic capacity and $558,600 was dedicated to the extension of Route AB to Blomeyer Junction at Highways 25 and 77. Bond also announced he has secured $300,000 for equipment and technology upgrades at the Cape Girardeau Career and Technology Center as part of $6 million for health and education projects statewide.
