Ruth Boettcher of Altenburg was awarded the Secondary Silver medal in Basic Health Care Skills at the Vocational Industrial Clubs of America's (VICA) 33rd annual Leadership Conference and Skills USA Championships. The competition was held at H. Roe Bartle Hall in Kansas City on June 26.
Boettcher is a student at Perryville Area Career Center.
More than 3,600 students from 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the Virgin Islands competed in hands-on skills and leadership competitions.
VICA is the national organization serving trade, industrial, technical and health occupations students in public schools and colleges. VICA has roughly 250,000 members.
