NOEL, Mo. -- The body of one of two missing teen-agers has been found two days after a strong current swept them over a dam in southwest Missouri and into the water below.
Eric Harris, owner of the Elk River Ambulance service, told Kansas City television station KCTV on Sunday that the body of Joseph Bosley had been found.
The Missouri State Water Patrol said Bosley, 16, of Independence, and Shane Holcombe, 15, of Blue Springs, became caught in the current of the Elk River and washed over the Noel dam about 4:30 p.m. Friday.
The teen-agers were visiting the area on a float trip with Holcombe's family.
McDonald County Sheriff Robert Evenson estimated that as many as 200 people were involved in the search at some point on Saturday. About 40 to 50 people were involved in the search Sunday.
"We're working the river, hoping that if they have floated downstream that we can find them," Evenson said. "Of course, we know that there is still a possibility that they are still under the spillway under the dam. That water is still tumbling there, and they could still be trapped there. But not knowing, we have to keep working the river."
