HOLLAND, Mo. -- The body of a Hayti, Missouri, man who apparently was shot several times was discovered early Friday.

Larry Wayne Turner, 30, was found lying in the front yard of a house on Highway F west of Holland in Pemiscot County at 6:55 a.m. Friday, according to a news release from the Pemiscot County Sheriff's Department.

Sheriff Tommy Greenwell said his department received a call from a motorist about a man who was unresponsive and lying in the yard of a trailer. When a Pemiscot County deputy arrived, he determined Turner was dead and contacted additional officers to begin an investigation.

Turner was shot several times, Greenwell reported. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Pemiscot County Coroner Jim Brimhall.

An autopsy is planned, Greenwell said.

"Numerous interviews have been conducted, and more are to be done," he said.
