DYERSBURG, Tenn. -- The Dyer County Sheriff's Department announced on Monday that a body found in Dyer County on Saturday is that of the missing mother of four, Karen Swift, and the case is being investigated as a homicide.
Dyer County Sheriff Jeff Box said the body was identified as Swift by dental records after it was sent to the Shelby County Medical Examiner's Office in Memphis, Tenn.
Swift's body had reportedly been concealed in an area a short distance from her house on Willie Johnson Road. Box said the body had been concealed by undergrowth and vegetation for some time.
Swift was reported missing Oct. 30, after her vehicle was found abandoned at the intersection of Millsfield Highway and Harness Road, less than a half-mile from where she lived. The sheriff's department has been investigating her disappearance, gathering evidence and performing searches in an attempt to find her body and leads to a suspect.
