Boatmen's Bancshares Inc. has completed acquisition of First Amarillo Bancoporation of Amarillo, Texas, and First Continental Bank and Trust of Overland Park, Kan.
Boatmen's Bancshares has reached an agreement to acquire First Amarillo Bancorporation, a bank holding company with approximately $800 million in assets.
The transaction is structured as a tax-free exchange of stock, with Boatmen's exchanging .456 shares of its common stock for each share of First Amarillo's approximately 6.3 million shares outstanding.
Boatmen's said the acquisition, which will be accounted for on a pooling-of-interest basis, is expected to be neutral to Boatmen's 1993 earnings results and to be accretive in 1994.
Boatmen's Bancshares has completed the acquisition of First Continental Bank and Trust in Overland Park, Kan., which has assets of approximately $185 million. This acquisition marks Boatmen's entry into Kansas and strengthens the company's franchise in the metropolitan Kansas City area.
