The city of Cape Girardeau and NationsBank were scheduled to finalize the deal on the city's purchase of the old Boatmen's Bank building at Broadway and Main Street.
City manager Michael Miller said everything looked good for the deal. "We don't think there will be any surprises. If there are, they'll be technicalities," he said.
David Hodge, regional executive with NationsBank, which bought out the Boatmen's group, said the sale was "mutually beneficial."
"We're pleased it worked out. We're real excited about the transaction," Hodge said.
The city is buying the building for approximately $150,000, and will move the Convention and Visitors Bureau in this week. A customer service area will probably also be added, and the vaults may be used to store city records.
