The Cape Girardeau School Board has narrowed the pool of potential superintendents but is not releasing the names of the three candidates who will be interviewed. Interview dates have not been arranged yet.

On Tuesday, the board met in closed session to review 11 or 12 applications. In an e-mail to district employees Wednesday, board president Dr. Steve Trautwein said, "We have decided that the names of the interviewees will not be released and that the interview process itself must occur in closed session, out of courtesy to the interviewees. ... Once the process has been completed the entire community will be invited to meet the new superintendent at a public reception."
