JACKSON - The Cape Girardeau County Board of Equalization will hear its first appeals on Thursday.

The board officially began its term on Monday but there were no appeals. Assessor Jerry Reynolds said he would bring one or two property owners before the board Thursday and possibly more later.

Now that the assessor has turned over the tax books for 1992, no changes can be made in assessed values of property without approval from the board, which will meet when needed through the end of July.

Reynolds said anyone interested in having their assessment reviewed can call the mapping and appraisal office at 243-3123 to schedule an appointment.

Members of the board are: Reynolds; County Auditor H. Weldon Macke; Commissioners Gene Huckstep, Leonard Sander, and E.C. Younghouse; Jackson Mayor Carlton Meyer; and Cape Girardeau Mayor Gene Rhodes.
