At the annual meeting of the Southeast Missouri District Fair Association, three individuals were elected to the board of directors: Bob James of Cape Girardeau, Vernon Miller of Jackson and Fred Higdon of Benton, Mo. Pete Rabbitt of Patton, Mo., was appointed by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce. Bob Blattel and Dave White, both of Chaffee, Mo., were appointed to the board by the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce. Jim and Patty Turner received the volunteers of the year award. The Norman Weiss and Chris Weiss families of Jackson received the fair family of the year award and Joe Smith of Jackson received the lifetime achievement award.

Officers elected for 2005 include president Pete Poe of Cape Girardeau; vice president Gary Kight of Advance, secretary Marilyn Schott of Jackson, treasurer Chris Weiss of Jackson and property custodian Cam Mitchell of Jackson.

The 150th annual SEMO District Fair will be held Sept. 10 to 17 at Arena Park in Cape Girardeau.
