Frank Essner, Linda Yarbro, Charles Goodale, and Dorothy Dirnberger, school board members in the Kelso C-7 School District, were among more than 3,000 board members, administrators and others from districts throughout the state who participated in the 1994 fall conference sponsored by the Missouri School Boards Association and the MIssouri Association of School Administrators.
The event features national recognized speakers on issues in public education as well as workshops where participants learned about successful programs in school districts throughout the state and current issues facing Missouri's public schools.
Yarbro and Dirnberger achieved certification at the meeting. Members achieve certification by completing a series of professional development activities that focus on areas identified as essential to effective school board service. Those areas include board operations, policy-making, goal-setting, maintaining positive relationships, and others.
The Missouri School Boards Association is a private nonprofit organization whose purpose is to help school board members carry out their responsibilities and advance the improvement of public education in Missouri.
