CAPE GIRARDEAU - Missouri Secretary of State Roy Blunt will be in Cape Girardeau Friday afternoon to hold one in a series of seminars for local and state officials concerning the state's new ethics law.
The meeting here will begin at 1:30 p.m. in the Southeast Missouri State University Center Ballroom.
The law, which took effect Tuesday, has caused some confusion because some wording in the law is unclear. Many state and local officials, both elected and appointed, will have to comply with the law by disclosing sources of income over certain amounts.
Blunt is holding the meeting for citizens and local officials to discuss the law, answer questions, and to help determine what parts of the law need to be further clarified.
Blunt's office will be responsible for preparing the reporting forms and seeing that they are filed on time for most officials that come under the law.
Other meetings are being held this week in Kansas City, St. Louis, and Springfield. A final session is planned for Tuesday in Jefferson City.
