Blueprints for Disney park in St. Louis fetch $27,000

ST. LOUIS -- A Disney theme park in St. Louis never happened, but blueprints for the project turned out to be pretty valuable.

The suburban Los Angeles-based company Profiles in History hosted an "Animation and Disneyana" auction Thursday and the blueprints for the St. Louis project that never got off the ground brought $27,000.

Disney proposed plans for an all-indoor park in downtown St. Louis in 1963. City redevelopment leaders and Disney couldn't reach agreement on financial matters, and the plans were dropped by the mid-1960s.

The auctioned item was the only known existing blueprint for the project.

Other auction highlights included the sale of a costume from "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" for $45,000, and the "resizing" jacket worn by the Marty McFly character in "Back to the Future II" for $42,000.
