"One part of my personal long-term career plan was to work in higher education. As a native of Southeast Missouri, it was my hope to be part of a high quality university and remain in the area," Thiele said. "Sometimes those two goals don't coincide, so the opportunity to serve as director of the Malden regional campus is a fulfillment of that plan."
